New Orleans, LA January 5th-8th, 2007

Went to New Orleans this past weekend to crash the Joint Mathematical Meeting.

I didn't actually attend the conference, but went to hang out with some of the people on the left (friends from my REU in Nebraska)
It was tons of fun!! And Steve, Joy, Rich and Ellen were sadly missed!

In this picture: On Bourbon Street drinking hand grenades, something I would definitely recommend if you ever go to New Orleans. From Left to Right: Britt, Mike, Derek, Brian, Katie, Me

This picture explains one of the reasons why New Orleans is wonderful :)

Luckily for Britt, on Friday night she was able to discover her future place of employment

We went to the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum on Saturday.
On the left is a picture of a replica of "The Birth of Venus" which was created in a toaster from 66 pieces of white bread.

Also, in true New Orleans fashion, we made sure to stop by Pat O'Brien's and get hurricanes. This was by far one of the best bars I've ever been to. It was all open-air, and had fire/water fountains like this.

Oh, and speaking of fountains... Katie and I took a dive into the one at the Sheraton where we were staying. When we got out, we had to make a run for it, because hotel security was coming after us. Luckily, Brian was there to hold the elevator door open for us, so we got away!
